he tagline of Golden Indonesia 2045 is echoing in Indonesia. By then we aim to be a sovereign, developed, just and prosperous nation. Therefore, two of our most important items of work concern science and technology, to enable us to improve many aspects of our lives including food supplies, environmental preservation, infrastructure, access to information, defense and sovereignty.
Scientific research is clearly crucial to a country’s progress in science and technology. But what have been our major steps in scientific research?
Let’s reflect from our hosting of the recent 2018 Asian Games and Asian Para Games. Every stakeholder made their best efforts to win gold medals. An ambitious goal of winning 16 gold medals was set by the government. Training facilities were upgraded and renovated to support the athletes and coaches. Finally, we won 98 medals including 31 gold medals, ranking fourth in the final standings.
The government presented medalists with big bonuses. The struggles to win the medals were valued and appreciated by our government.
