ustainable rayon fiber producer Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) participates in Hannover Messe 2021: Digital Edition as part of its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) transformation.

The largest industrial technology exhibition in the world, Hannover Messe 2021: Digital Edition is being held virtually from April 12 to 16.

APR director Basrie Kamba said in a statement that APR’s participation in the Germany-based annual exhibition was in line with the company’s commitment to supporting Industry 4.0 transformation for both Indonesia and its operations in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau.

“We apply the latest technology with an emphasis on automation, machine learning and real-time data in producing high quality Indonesian-made rayon fiber,” he said.

APR is one of 156 Indonesian industry players participating in Hannover Messe 2021, which include a wide range of industries from machinery, transportation and textiles to start-ups. It is expected to draw 1 million visitors this year.

For this year’s edition, Indonesia has been selected to be the country partner for the Hannover, Germany-based exhibition, becoming the first ASEAN country to be a country partner for the 74-year-old exhibition.

Previously, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said Hannover Messe 2021: Digital Edition was Indonesia’s opportunity to campaign the Making Indonesia 4.0 road map.

“Indonesia as a partner country wishes to share the road map for 4.0 technology application to the world. Based on the road map, Indonesia aims to become one of the 10 largest economies in the world by 2030,” he said.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, who virtually officiated the opening of the exhibition alongside German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said the event’s theme of technological transformation was very relevant to the pandemic-battered global situation.

President Jokowi hopes the technological transformation will create momentum that will not only carry the world out of the pandemic, but also create a big leap forward.

“2045 will be a golden year for Indonesia, as part of the ‘Golden Indonesia’ vision that will be manifested by Industry 4.0. It is hoped that Indonesia’s digital economy and Industry 4.0 will be the fastest in Southeast Asia,” he said.

Industry 4.0 has been in the works for Indonesia in recent years, with a number of national priorities including establishing an innovation ecosystem, embracing sustainability and incentivizing technology investments.

Aside from production automation, APR’s technology innovations are applied in various aspects including sustainability, which holds an important role for APR as a sustainable rayon fiber producer in making a positive impact on the climate, nature, society, as well as the fashion industry.

One of APR’s breakthroughs in technology-driven sustainability is with the launch of www.followourfibre.com. Through blockchain technology, the platform allows customers to trace APR-made rayon fiber products up to its supply chain to ensure responsible and legal management.

Previously, APR’s efforts in supporting Industry 4.0 transformation received appreciation from the Indonesian government with the Indonesia Industry 4.0 Readiness Index (INDI 4.0) award.

The achievement was made possible through the company’s efficiency and effectiveness, as well as its ability to process big data from operational automation, specifically for the development of the national textile industry and products.

Further support for the textile and fashion industry is also shown through the Jakarta Fashion Hub (JFH), APR’s initiative in creating a meeting space for designers, academics and fashion enthusiasts.
