ndonesia has succeeded in becoming a country capable of dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has been running for more than two years. In fact, Indonesia has successfully hosted the G20 Summit, which was held in Bali.

The success of the G20 Summit showcases Indonesia's readiness to invite the global community to work together, support each other to recover together, and grow stronger and more sustainably.

The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, together with the SOE Ministry through the BUMN Untuk Indonesia Foundation, held a Humanitarian Award Night as a form of the government’s appreciation for various philanthropic actions in tackling COVID-19.

The awards, given to individuals, private sector companies and SOEs, took place at the O20 event, a side event of the G20 Summit, at the Merusaka Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali on Thursday (17/11/2022).

State-owned bank PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. was one of the recipients of the historical award, with BNI Director of Corporate and International Banking Silvano Rumantir representing the company directly at the event.

Silvano said BNI always tries to provide maximum support to the government, especially in dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, as a state-owned bank, BNI has a larger obligation to be able to maintain economic stability by carrying out various humanitarian programs.

“We really appreciate the award given to us. Of course, we will continue to increase the support that has been realized so far, not only to deal with the impact of the pandemic, but also to support the strengthening of the economy with various assistance programs for the community," he said.

BNI’s special humanitarian program for the COVID-19 pandemic prevention was carried out through assistance with early detection examinations in the form of PCR swab tests, provision of prevention tools to residents and health workers such as masks, personal protective equipment, hand washing equipment, and others.

The bank also provides medical and treatment assistance for hospitals in the form of detection kits and Covid-19 laboratories as well as operational assistance for health workers. BNI also actively distributes vaccination assistance, as well as providing special trash cans for mask waste. The company also has an ambulance to handle Covid-19 patients.

"Beyond that, we have several other humanitarian programs such as appreciation for honorary teachers, and appreciation for midwives and nurses who are all striving at the frontline during critical times of the pandemic," Silvano concluded.
