loud-based software is increasingly becoming a major part of digital transformation for companies in Indonesia, with research by the Research and Development Department (Litbang) of Kompas and software-as-a-service (SaaS) company Mekari showing that cloud-based software has had a positive impact on business operations.
The research, titled “Penggunaan Teknologi Digital dalam Pengembangan Bisnis” (The Use of Digital Technology in Business Development), found that 65 percent of medium and large companies in major cities in Indonesia are already aware that digital transformation increases business effectiveness and efficiency.
In addition, 73 percent of companies that have not yet utilized cloud-based software plan to adopt it in the next two years.
The research was launched on Sept. 10 at the Mekari Conference 2024 at ICE BSD, South Tangerang. Taking the theme of “Sustainable Growth Through Limitless Digital Innovation”, the business and technology conference brought together more than 60 speakers to discuss the role of technological innovation for sustainable business growth.
Mekari CEO Suwandi Soh noted that high awareness will encourage companies to implement technology in the form of cloud-based software immediately to facilitate business operations and achieve sustainable business growth.
"The use of cloud-based software by companies is increasingly widespread. Research reveals that 55 percent of companies have used this technology for more than three years. We also found that the majority, or 52 percent, of respondents have witnessed increased work effectiveness after utilizing cloud-based software. This increase in effectiveness will be the basis for sustainable business growth in the long term," he said during the conference.
The positive impact of cloud-based software so far will convince companies to expand technology adoption so that they can feel more benefits of digital transformation for sustainable business growth.
Litbang Kompas researcher Christian Marpaung said the research found that around 85 percent of companies are enthusiastic and ready to face future technological developments.
"This enthusiasm is rooted in the company's belief that digital transformation will help them create and utilize business opportunities in the market," he continued.
Companies are also proactively implementing strategies, including fostering digital talents and advancing their technological infrastructure, to ensure that future technology implementation runs smoothly.
"Based on the survey, companies in Indonesia have started to look at technologies related to databases, clouds, blockchain and artificial intelligence sd they see very promising development potential [in these areas]," he concluded.
