T

he highly anticipated French gastronomy week “Le Goût de France - Cita Rasa Prancis, j'adore!” returns for its second edition, bringing together culinary experts and connoisseurs alike in a shared appreciation of French cuisine.

Running from Oct. 1 to 13, the event is organized by the French Embassy in Indonesia, the Institut Français d'Indonésie (IFI) and Business France, taking place in 150 restaurants across Indonesia to showcase the richness of French culinary traditions.

This year’s “Le Goût de France - Cita Rasa Prancis, j'adore!” has invited Michelin-starred chef David Gallienne of Le Jardin des Plumes restaurant in Giverny, who will embark on a culinary journey through Jakarta, Makassar, Yogyakarta and Surabaya.

His itinerary includes engaging culinary demonstrations, collaborative dinners with local chefs on prestigious dinners and explorations of Indonesia's spices, ingredients and traditional dishes. The exchange aims to deepen the connection between French gastronomy, recognized by UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage since 2010, and the Indonesian culinary landscape.

Along with the culinary showcases, the French gastronomy week features a B2B program tailored for Indonesian and French entrepreneurs and distributors to promote partnerships and cooperation in the food industry. This initiative underscores the growing bonds between the two nations and facilitates business exchanges that promote culinary and cultural cooperation.

For those passionate about French cuisine, the event is also holding a French recipe competition on Instagram.

The top-10 contestants will be invited to Jakarta to compete in the final on Oct. 12, where a jury of top French chefs will select the lucky winner, who will receive a round-trip ticket to Paris courtesy of Qatar Airways, along with financial support for a one-week trip and visa assistance.
