From decluttered jeans to trendy fashion: PNM empowers ultra-micro entrepreneurs

P

T Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) remains committed to supporting a sustainable economy through its reduce, re-love, restyle (RE3) social initiative. Through this program, PNM employees successfully collected 60 kilograms of reusable jeans to be donated to Aan, a PNM Mekaar customer who runs a business transforming old denim into trendy fashion items such as bags, vests and various accessories.

The RE3 campaign invited all PNM employees to declutter their wardrobes, especially unused but wearable jeans. It also served as an educational moment on the importance of reducing textile waste through reuse and restyling. The donated jeans provided additional raw material for Aan’s business, helping her increase production capacity and expand her market reach. Notably, one of her fashion pieces was even worn by Indonesian musician Ndarboy, proof that micro-entrepreneurs can create inspiring, high-quality products.

Aan expressed her appreciation directly to PNM. “Alhamdulillah [thank God] I’m very grateful for the 60 kg of jeans donated by PNM employees. This kind of support means a lot to us. Hopefully, we can now produce even more in the future,” she said. For Aan, PNM is more than just a financial institution; it is a true partner that cares about the growth and the sustainability of its customers’ businesses.

PNM sees the RE3 initiative as part of its core value, “Growing Together,” a guiding spirit among all its employees. “We believe every pair of jeans donated can help sew new hope for entrepreneurs like Ibu Aan. Our employees don’t just serve customers, they help ignite their passion through small acts with big impacts. This is a real example of how empowerment starts from the simplest steps,” said Arief Mulyadi, president director of PNM.

The RE3 program is part of PNM’s annual campaign encouraging employees to care for the environment while supporting ultra-micro business empowerment. PNM hopes to continue RE3 as part of its ongoing sustainability movement and a tangible contribution toward building an inclusive, eco-friendly circular economy that directly benefits micro-entrepreneurs across Indonesia.
