he Batam Concession Agency (BP Batam) has named Adaro Energy Indonesia and TBS Energi Utama as winners for the rights to the use of reservoirs in two locations designated for the floating solar power plant (PLTS) project, while indicating that export of renewable-based electricity to Singapore is targeted to kickstart in 2024.
Irfan Syakir Widyasa, head of the Batam Island Free Trade Zone Development Center and Special Economic Zone (KEK) of BP Batam, explained that the PLTS development has been stated in the Coordinating Economic Ministry Regulation No. 9/2022 concerning changes to the list of National Strategic Projects (PSNs).
The two reservoirs for the solar power plant project, meanwhile, are located in Duriangkang and Tembesi.
"By designating them as PSNs means that the PLTS project must be realized in Batam in the third quarter of 2024 or in accordance with the working period of President Joko Widodo's administration," said Irfan, who also serves as head of the PLTS Development Technical Team in Batam, to The Jakarta Post on Friday.
For the Duriangkang reservoir, BP Batam has named PT Batam Sarana Surya as lease partner for the provision of the solar power plant infrastructure. The firm was specifically established by Adaro to develop the solar power plant in Batam.
Adaro is set to build a solar power plant covering 120 hectares of the 2,400 ha reservoir land in Duriangkang, in accordance with the Public Works and Housing Ministry (PUPR) regulation concerning permitted use of 5 percent of the available reservoir area.
Adaro's investment in Duriangkang is estimated to amount to US$197.22 million.
