The company has its eyes on a future when electric four-wheeler freight vehicles become available in the country, and at affordable prices.
T Blitz Electric Mobility planned to expand its fleet to electric four-wheelers once affordable options became available in the country, the homegrown electric vehicle (EV) logistics company said on Thursday.
“For cargo, the options are still very limited and not within our price range,” Blitz COO Charles Chai told The Jakarta Post.
He underlined that while the domestic market had ample options in terms of passenger EVs, the same could not be said for the commercial freight industry.
The company’s ideal price for electric trucks was between Rp 200 million (US$13,300) and Rp 300 million, Charles added, noting that this range would currently apply only to passenger vehicles with very limited cargo capacity.
Blitz currently operates a fleet composed entirely of electric two-wheelers. Its drivers can either use the vehicle provided or lease electric motorcycles from four selected brands, namely Indonesia’s Alessa, Singapore’s Charged Asia, India’s TVS and Japan’s Imoto.
The company offers a lease-to-own scheme, so its drivers can own the vehicle after completing several monthly installments.
Finding the ideal electric two-wheelers for making deliveries required careful consideration, Charles said.
