IDX Composite rises 0.82%, hits new all-time high in trading session

The IDX Composite index rose by 0.82 percent, to 7,606.19 by the close of trading on Monday, starting the week on a positive note.

he Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite index rose by 0.82 percent, or 61.90 points, to 7,606.19 on Monday, opening the last week of the month in the green.

During the trading session, the index hit a new all-time high of 7,619.90. The previous record of 7,594 was set on Aug. 21, with the highest closing of 7,554.5 on the same day.

Eight sectoral indices helped push the IDX Composite index to its peak. The non-primary consumer sector surged by 2.53 percent, while property and real estate rose by 2.01 percent. Energy gained 1.14 percent and basic materials increased by 1.13 percent.

The technology sector was the biggest loser for the day, dropping by 0.59 percent. The consumer goods sector fell by 0.20 percent, while the industrials sector weakened by 0.09 percent.

The top gainers in the LQ45 index today were PT Merdeka Copper Gold (MDKA), which was up 6.47 percent, PT ESSA Industries Indonesia (ESSA), which added 5.23 percent and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BBTN), which gained 4.74 percent.

Meanwhile, PT Gudang Garam (GGRM) recorded the biggest loss by percentage for the day, declining by 2 percent. It was followed by PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), which was down 1.89 percent, and PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul (SIDO), which declined by 1.42 percent.

On Monday, 360 stocks rose, 219 declined and 217 stayed the same. The total transaction value was Rp 12.09 trillion (US$782.34 million), with 16.5 billion shares traded.
