In late October, Public Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait estimated the ministry would need over Rp 23 trillion (US$1.44 billion) to meet the needs of the housing program annually, but for next year the Finance Ministry has only earmarked Rp 5 trillion.
atar will help finance the development of President Prabowo Subianto’s flagship housing program, Deputy Public Housing and Settlements Minister Fahri Hamzah said.
Fahri said Doha will take part in supporting the 1 million homes target, which the administration aims to build in cities across the archipelago.
“Apparently this [housing program] is quite attractive for many countries and they [are offering] partnerships. There is partnership funding from the Middle East,” Fahri Hamzah said after a meeting at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday, as quoted by Kumparan.
The deputy housing minister further explained that the financing facility for the housing program would be channeled through the Qatar National Bank (QNB) in Indonesia.
"When we visited Abu Dhabi and Doha, Qatar, they were interested in financing [the program], and Qatar already has its bank here [in Indonesia], namely QNB, and they said they are ready to facilitate financing for 1 million homes through QNB," Fahri added.
