The factory is set to have an annual production capacity of 20,000 batteries.
hinese automaker Wuling Motors has inaugurated an electric vehicle battery production facility at its factory in Cikarang, West Java.
The Rp 87 billion (US$5.5 million) plant, operated by its local subsidiary PT SGMW Motor Indonesia, will supply batteries for Wuling’s CloudEV and BinguoEV models.
It is set to have a production capacity of 20,000 batteries per year.
“SGMW is a pioneer in supporting electric vehicle regulations and meeting domestic content requirements (TKDN). This investment reflects our long-term commitment to advancing Indonesia’s transition to electric mobility,” said Wuling battery line operations manager Andrin Adhitama, as quoted in a statement to accompany the inauguration on Tuesday.

The facility, which will produce the MAGIC Battery with “advanced technologies”, aims to meet growing demand in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, according to the company, which added that the batteries would feature technologies like multifunction unitized structure technology (MUST), advanced cell safety and AI-based intelligent management.
“This facility is a crucial step in strengthening Wuling’s position in Indonesia’s increasingly competitive automotive sector,” said Guan Hong, Wuling vice president for purchasing, quality and engineering.
