P

ekan Iklim Bali (Bali Climate Week) has united regional leaders, climate activists, non-governmental organizations, funders and investors as well as the general public in a weeklong event dedicated to collectively promote collaborative, innovative and impactful climate action.

Organized by Koalisi Bali Emisi Nol Bersih (Bali Net Zero Emissions Coalition) and the Bali provincial government, the inaugural Pekan Iklim Bali took the theme of “Titik Temu Ambisi dan Aksi Iklim” (“Meeting Point for Climate Ambition and Action”), taking place from August 25 to 30 in various locations across Bali, including Denpasar, Sanur, Badung, Klungkung, Karangasem and Gianyar.

Speakers who attended Pekan Iklim Bali 2025 representing the central and regional governments, include member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Ni Luh Djelantik; Deputy for Food, Natural Resources and Environment of the National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) Leonardo A.A. Teguh Sambodo and Deputy for Basic Infrastructure Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agency Rachmat Kaimuddin.

Representatives from the academic world include scholars from Udayana University, such as Head of CORE Udayana Prof. Ida Ayu Dwi Giriantari and Prof. I Gusti Agung Ayu Ambarawati, while the private sector was represented by Ecotourism Bali founder Suzy Hutomo and CEO of Waterbom Sayan Gulino among others.

The opening of Pekan Iklim Bali 2025 was officiated by the Bali Governor Wayan Koster, represented by Bali Regional Secretary Dewa Made Indra and followed by a live broadcast keynote address by Environment Minister and head of the Environmental Management Agency (BPLH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.

Koster stated that the Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka vision, an environmental protection pledge, serves as the main foundation for development aligned with Bali's local wisdom, which holistically protects nature, culture and society. Therefore, he continued, Pekan Iklim Bali 2025 aligns with the Bali provincial government's commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2045, which has been translated into several regulations.
