he Public Service Obligation (PSO) subsidy for MRT Jakarta in the 2026 regional budget (APBD), which had been cut to Rp 536.7 billion (US$32.11 million), is to be increased to approximately Rp 700 billion, according to MRT president director Tuhiyat.
The increase will be formalized in the revised APBD, slated for implementation mid-year.
"[Rp 536.7 billion] is the initial stage; there will be a revised APBD later," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday, as reported by Bisnis.
The figure remains below the Rp 730 billion of realized PSO funding in 2025, which was well below the Rp 944.32 billion originally allocated for 2025.
Tuhiyat noted that the decline in the PSO subsidy over the past five years was correlated with the transportation network’s rising ridership, emphasizing that maintaining budget stability was crucial now to boost passenger numbers further.
To support this growth, he outlined plans for continued service improvements, including feeder integration, digitalization and station upgrades, such as simplified tap-in/tap-out systems.
