Kuburan Band released a new single called “Tikotok”, said to be inspired by the current TikTok craze among Indonesians.
uburan Band released a new single called “Tikotok” along with its music video on Nov. 19. The new song is said to be inspired by the current TikTok craze among Indonesians.
"It seems that in the past one or two years more and more people are using the social media app," Kuburan Band said in a statement, as quoted by CNNIndonesia on Monday.
“Tikotok” was written and composed by guitarist, Raka, and keyboardist, Udhe.
The single contains playful pop sounds combined with the popular TikTok-style dance music, along with the addition of trombones and trumpets.
Popular for its mega hit “Lupa Lupa / Tapi Ingat” in the early 2000s, Kuburan Band admitted that it did not want to deliver a message that was too weighty for its fanbase. The Bandung-based outfit just wants to entertain the audience through every track.
"Basically, when Kuburan Band writes a song, we want it to be as simple and as easy to listen to as possible. And from the start, we have only made songs with lighthearted themes, which are easy to digest," said the band’s manager Omen.
"Hopefully this song will be well-received, and will be used for people’s TikTok videos too because the song is made to move your body to," he continued.
Kuburan Band was formed on Sept. 11, 2001. Experimenting with many genres from metal to dangdut, it has released a number of albums, such as Greatest Hits Vol. 2 (2006), Booming! Bee Are The Kill Young Pen Think Gun Thank (2009) and The Golden Hit Album (2019).
Aside from its comedic songs, Kuburan Band members also stole people’s attention with their similarity to United States rock band Kiss, wearing scary face paint and stage outfits. However, the band said that its make-up was inspired by Ria Jenaka’s comedy ensemble that used to air on TVRI in 1980s.
Since 2019, the band has consisted of Raka (guitar), Aum (guitar), Denny (bass), Udhe (keyboards), Surya (drums) and Resa (vocals).
Although the band’s popularity has diminished over the last few years, it still actively releases singles, among them are 2020’s “Wifi” and “Kanebo Kering” (Dry Cleaning Cloth).
