OAH’s concert was the decennial celebration of the band’s current identity, and also served as a demonstration of tireless showmanship.
There was a particular moment, as the Indonesian pop-rock band NOAH carried on with the final set of the NOAH DekadeXperience concert, when its vocalist, Nazril "Ariel" Irham, addressed the enthusiastic crowd, with his voice already sore from performing a baker's dozen of the band's discography. The 41-year-old singer did not lose morale, though -- he took his moment of exhaustion as an opportunity to reminisce out loud on the band's transition ten years ago.
"There's no such thing as a perfect human being, is there?" Ariel said with a sapped smile to the crowd. "What's most important is that our spirit never fades. The spirit to continue improving ourselves and becoming better and better. That's what I've learned."
The whole recital was not an easy feat to pull off -- even for veteran acts such as NOAH. Taking place in the compound of Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Saturday, the NOAH DekadeXperience concert lasted for approximately three hours and 30 minutes at two different stages, encompassing 35 of the band's greatest hits.
Thanks to the band's seemingly unwavering fervor -- not to mention, its commendable professionalism in keeping the crowd on its feet for nearly four hours -- the concert ultimately delivered a proud message, which its devoted fans might have already known: NOAH is, arguably, one of the country's most-beloved music icons of the modern age. Ten years after its transition from the band’s previous name, Peterpan, that enduring spirit has never faded.
'Huge honor'
