EDxYouth is back to inspire young people at the Sinarmas World Academy campus in South Tangerang, Banten, on Feb. 25. Now in its sixth year, the conference is back with the theme Empowering Inner Self: Be Relevant, Resonant and Radiant.

The idea behind this year’s theme is empowering oneself in a modernized world with its rapid development and innovations. Individuals must uphold their own principles in order to stay relevant and adapt to the needs of the environment around them.

Armed with a good attitude and self-empowerment, young people can forge their own pathways and engage in fields they are passionate about, while retaining personal values.

“TEDxYouth aims to be an opportunity for the Sinarmas World Academy community to nurture their creativity according to their respective characters. We’ve invited professional speakers, who will share their life stories and inspire us to empower ourselves and bring positive change to the environment around us,” said SWA co-principal Mr. Alexander.

This year, TEDxYouth featured eight influential speakers with various backgrounds, expertise and experiences. Among them were former information and technology minister (2014-2019) Rudiantara; MAKNA group founder and CEO, Ernanda Putra; fitness and sleep educator, Vishal Dasani; New Energy Nexus program manager, Renaldo Sutjiady; PetaNetra cofounder and chief marketing officer, Graciela Gabrielle Angeline; Duckie Land cofounder, Febrian Pottanobu; Haloka Group founder and CEO, Stephanie Regina; and UOB Indonesia managing director, head of global market.

Throughout the day, visitors will learn about becoming an entrepreneur that can leverage technological advancements (Rudiantara), stepping out of their comfort zone and having the confidence to speak with a large audience (Sonny) and even improving their sleep quality to improve physical and mental wellbeing (Vishal).

Several SWA students also came on stage to tell their own inspiring tales to motivate fellow youths to develop themselves and adapt to the various challenges they face in an ever-changing world.

“All activities throughout the conference are organized by students of Sinarmas World Academy. For the committee, it’s a way to upgrade their critical and creative thinking skills and practice good communication and teamwork to make the conference a success,” said Matthew, TEDxYouth committee chairman and Grade 11 student at SWA.

Between talks, SWA students held a musical performance along with other creative collaborations.

Since July 2008, SWA has been providing the best international education, from infant (six months) to grade 12 (17 years). To ensure the success of SWA graduates, the school pioneered the BEST Pathway method to help students develop talent and maximize potential, pushing them to reach their fullest capacity.
