eople travel for a diverse array of reasons. According to research, many embark on journeys and vacations to seek tranquility, relaxation, recreation and to strengthen family ties. These varied tourist needs can be met at many tourist areas across Indonesia. One such location is the Parapuar area in Labuan Bajo, Flores.
As the developer of the tourism sector in Labuan Bajo, Shana Fatina, the CEO of the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Implementing Body (BPOLBF), asserts that the development of the Parapuar area aims to encompass a range of destinations and tourist activities, including opportunities for rest and relaxation.
"The development of the area is directed toward accommodating various recreational activities, attractions and tourism accommodations created with unique characteristics and experiences. Cultural elements will highlight the uniqueness and diversity of Flores' culture and leisure, while entertainment options will include tourist activities and entertainment, as well as adventurous experiences in nature, all while preserving the exoticism of the wildlife," Shana explained.
Especially for tourists seeking relaxation, healing and relationship-building while appreciating the beauty of Labuan Bajo, Parapuar offers a specific zone known as the Leisure District. This zone is designed for those who wish to engage in self-treatment.
"In this Leisure District, visitors can enjoy the sunset viewpoint, or visit and use the wedding venue, the hotel and convention hall, the hilltop restaurant, the sky bar, a premium restaurant, the Spa and Wellness center and the Forest Pavilion Park and Plaza. Furthermore, the development of this zone aims to enhance natural features such as the hills in this area, making it the best potential area for panoramic views of hills, beaches and cityscapes," Shana elaborated.
Situated above Labuan Bajo city, the Parapuar Leisure District offers a panoramic view of the city along with stretches of ocean and the contours of bays interspersed with charming small islands. This zone becomes an ideal choice for relaxation after venturing through the other three zones: the wildlife zone, the cultural zone and the adventure zone.
The total area of the Leisure District is 63.59 hectares, of which buildings will cover 6.79 hectares. The development of this area adheres to a 2019 Environment and Forestry Ministry regulation regarding nature tourism development.
