ukirsari village in Bantul regency has significant potential for wayang kulit (leather puppet) enterprises. This prompted PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) to establish an integrated village ecosystem called Kampung Madani.

The main objectives of establishing Kampung Madani Wukirsari include accelerating regional economic growth through socio-economic welfare programs, clustering wayang kulit crafts, enhancing empowerment programs to increase literacy and educational interest among clients, their families and the community.

Kampung Madani in Wukirsari village was inaugurated by Bantul Regent H. Abdul Halim Muslih, attended by Wukirsari village head Susilo Hapsoro. During the inauguration, 100 clients and local residents enjoyed free health check-ups.

Danang Setya Budi, branch manager of PNM Yogyakarta, said that PNM, as an institution focused on empowering ultra-micro business actors, is committed to encouraging clients and villagers to contribute more.

"In Kampung Madani, the Tatah Sungging craftsman group has been formed and trained in leather crafts. They have now contributed to the community by providing employment opportunities and introducing new product innovations in wayang kulit crafts," Danang explained on June 4.

PNM president director Arief Mulyadi also encouraged villagers to synergize to maximize the village's long-established potential. "Kampung Madani serves as a platform for discussion and implementation to develop businesses so that villagers can empower themselves together. It requires collaboration from all villagers, both PNM clients and non-clients, to become a globally competitive wayang kulit center," Arief stated.
