udamala Resort, Seraya has taken a significant step in its sustainability efforts with the installation of a solar power plant as the main energy source for its operations.
The project, a collaboration between pioneering renewable energy companies Xurya and Suryagen, aims to reduce the resort’s carbon footprint and enhance the guest experience by providing eco-friendly energy.
As the first resort in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, to integrate solar power plants into its operations, Sudamala Resort, Seraya is committed to supporting Labuan Bajo as a world-class sustainable super priority destination.
The off-grid hybrid solar power plant system will enable nearly 90 to 95 percent of Sudamala Resort, Seraya’s operational energy needs to be met by solar energy. The system is equipped with batteries and a generator set to ensure operational resilience, even in emergency situations.
The presence of the solar power plant will help significantly reduce electricity costs compared to the use of conventional diesel generators, while simultaneously protecting the natural environment and providing greater comfort for resort guests, who will not be disturbed by noise pollution.
Sudamala Resorts CEO Ben Subrata said the initiative was part of the resort’s commitment to sustainable growth and responsible environmental management, while ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
“The installation of solar energy at Sudamala Resort, Seraya is a significant transformational step that helps us reduce our carbon footprint and enhance the guest experience at our resort. We hope that our efforts will encourage other players in the tourism industry to prioritize environmental sustainability in their operations.”
With its new solar power plant, Sudamala Resort, Seraya serves as an exemplary model for eco-friendly tourism destinations in Indonesia. Aside from serving as an investment in efficient energy infrastructure, the solar power plant is also a crucial step toward realizing a greener and more sustainable future for Indonesian tourism.
Sudamala Resort, Seraya invites other players in the tourism industry to view the initiative as a concrete example that the sector can also play an active role in combating climate change and creating sustainable solutions without compromising the comfort and experience of visitors.
