Chairman Surya Paloh revealed the names of NasDem's three presidential candidates on Friday as the party concluded its three-days national congress in Jakarta
They are Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, Indonesian Military (TNI) commander Gen. Andika Perkasa and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
“I must remind [you], there is nothing lacking in each of the three candidates. In my eyes as party chairman, [...] they have the same qualifications,” Surya said in his speech to party members.
The party held a national congress from Wednesday to Friday in which a convention to select key presidential nominees was carried out.
A total of 34 regional boards proposed a list of their preferred three to five presidential nominees, which later were deliberated and narrowed down to three nominees by the central board.
As of Thursday, Anies was the front-runner after securing support from 32 regional boards, while Ganjar trailed behind with the approval of 29 regional boards. Other contenders were Rachmat Gobel and Erick Thohir with 14 and 16 regional boards behind them, respectively.
