he National Police have started investigating a premeditated murder accusation filed by the family of officer Nopryansyah Yosua Hutabarat, also known as Brig. J, who was reportedly killed in a fatal shooting at the official residence of a high-ranking cop.

The police concluded on Friday its preliminary investigation into the shooting after they found enough evidence to launch the full investigation.

"The case related to a report filed by Brig. J's family lawyer is now under a formal investigation. This shows that the special team has been working very fast, but still using science in their work," police spokesman Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said on Friday.

He was referring to a team formed by the police -- which comprises personnel of the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) and General Supervision Inspectorate (Irwasum), among others, and is aided externally by the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) and the National Police Commission (Kompolnas).

The police, however, did not reveal which incriminating evidence it was and why they have yet to name any suspect in the alleged premeditated murder. The police did not respond to The Jakarta Post’s request for comment on Sunday.
