ollowing a day-long ethics hearing on Thursday, the National Police have dishonorably discharged former internal affairs chief Insp. Gen. Ferdy Sambo – the two-star general who has been charged with the premeditated murder of his own aide-de-camp, Brig. Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat.
Police spokesperson Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo announced the decision around midnight on Thursday at the National Police headquarters in South Jakarta.
“The sanction handed down is dishonorable discharge,” Dedi told reporters, as quoted by Tempo.
Ferdy would also be placed in special detention for 21 days.
“He has been [in special detention]. He will serve the rest [of the 21 days],” Dedi said.
Ferdy was taken to the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) detention center in Depok, West Java, on Aug. 6 amid a police investigation into the murder.
The hearing was presided over by the police’s Intelligence and Security Agency chief, Comr. Gen Ahmad Dofiri, a three-star general, and was attended by general supervision inspector Comr. Gen. Agung Budi Maryoto, Internal Affairs Division chief Insp. Gen. Syahar Diantono, Police Staff College chief Insp. Gen. Yazid Fanani and senior policy analyst on security management Insp. Gen. Rudolf Alberth Rodja.
