he Constitutional Court has formed an oversight team to investigate an apparent mismatch between two versions of a November 2022 ruling that upheld the controversial dismissal of court justice Aswanto the month prior.
The issue became known after lawyer Zico Leonard, who was a petitioner in the case, revealed last week that he had found a discrepancy between the version of the court opinion that was read out in November and the copy that was later issued.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Constitutional Court Justice Enny Nurbaningsih said all nine justices had agreed to appoint her to the three-member ethics council established for the investigation.
The two other members are former justice I Dewa Gede Palguna and Sudjito, a law professor at Yogyakarta’s Gadjah Mada University who was a member of a previous court ethics council.
“To ensure fairness and independence, we’ll let the [new ethics council] resolve [the issue],” Enny said.
The team will begin working on Wednesday and is expected to complete its investigation within a month, according to Chief Justice Anwar Usman.
