Speaking at an event to welcome Ramadan, Airlangga said that as a center party, Golkar carried out governing duties, religious roles and civic activities in equal parts.
olkar Party chair Airlangga Hartarto said on Sunday that the party stood at the center of ideological spectrum and would promote neither a religious nor a nationalist agenda.
Speaking at an event to welcome Ramadan, Airlangga said that as a center party, Golkar carried out governing duties, religious roles and civic activities in equal parts.
"The center, the middle ground is work," Airlangga said, referring to the party's motto.
Earlier in his speech, Airlangga urged Golkar politicians to tour their electoral districts during Ramadan and listen to voters’ problems and grievances.
"Please use Ramadan as the moment when you meet voters and listen to their aspirations because this fasting month will be the last fasting month before next year's general election," Airlangga said, as quoted by Antara.
Late last year, Airlangga said he expected Golkar to come out on top in the 2024 legislative election by garnering at least 20 percent of the popular vote, which would translates to some 115 seats in the House of Representatives.
