mid what they see as a lack of substantive discussions on relevant issues by political parties ahead of the 2024 general elections, public policy advocate Think Policy and youth-based media What Is Up, Indonesia (WIUI) have launched the Bijak Memilih movement, which aims to educate youth on public policies and issue-based politics.

The core of the movement is the bijakmemilih.id online platform, which will collect information on the stance of political parties and candidates on what Think Policy deems to be issues relevant to young voters.

“Through the website, we want to present info on the relevant issues that isn’t just accurate, but easy to digest for voters who might not have enough time to research each candidate," said WIUI cofounder Abigail Limuria in a press release.

The website however, is still very much a work in progress, with focus being put on niche issues such as marijuana legalization and reproductive health education. Bijak Memilih product manager Bea said that her team was planning to include more issues as time goes on through the various discussions Think Policy plans on conducting throughout 2023.

With candidate registration for the legislative election and the presidential election set to start next month and in October, respectively, only the general stances of political parties are included in the website for the time being.
