Local PDI-P politicians support Kaesang bid for Depok mayor
Chairman of the PDI-P Depok municipal branch Hendrik Tangke Allo said on Wednesday that the party was open to the idea and had picked a running mate if Kaesang decides to run in the local election.

he local branch of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) in Depok municipality, West Java has thrown its weight behind a proposal to nominate President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's youngest son Kaesang Pangarep as mayor of the city.
Chairman of the PDI-P Depok municipal branch Hendrik Tangke Allo said on Wednesday that the party was open to the idea and had even picked a running mate if Kaesang decided to run in the local election.
"It will be great if Kaesang runs as Depok mayor, we will pair him with Bang SS," Hendrik said, referring to Depok municipal secretary Supian Suri.
Hendrik said Kaesang and Supian could be a winning ticket, considering their political capital. "They're both young and energetic. Bang SS knows a lot about bureaucracy while Kaesang has a youthful spirit and likes challenges," Hendrik was quoted by Tempo as saying.
In early April, a volunteer group declared its support for Kaesang's mayoral bid in Depok, although there has not been an official announcement from his camp.
The group, Ganjar Pranowo Volunteers Center, has not engaged in a conversation with Kaesang but it would soon hold talks with Kaesang's older brother Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
In recent days, banners supporting Kaesang's candidacy have begun to crop up along some of Depok's major thoroughfares.
