KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri refused to disclose the identity of the suspect in the alleged graft case involving the Agriculture Ministry, saying that the suspect will be disclosed in an official press conference.
he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is intensifying its investigation into an alleged graft case involving the Agriculture Ministry by launching raids at both the official residence of minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo and the ministry’s office in the past two days.
But the antigraft body dismisses recent speculation that it has named Syahrul a suspect in the case.
KPK investigators came to Syahrul’s official residence at the Widya Chandra ministerial housing complex in South Jakarta on Thursday afternoon. They were seen gathering documents and other goods allegedly related to the investigation.
The investigators were also seen with a money counter during the raid, which wrapped up around noon on Friday.
“Investigators found cash in rupiah and foreign currencies. That’s why they brought a money counter to the location,” KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri told journalists on Friday.
Ali refused to disclose more details regarding the seized money, only mentioning that the total amount of money found in the location was “tens of billions” of rupiah.
Apart from the money, investigators also seized several documents, including financial records and some electronic documents.
