AMIN camp objects to Defense Ministry ad showcasing Prabowo's achievements

he national Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) campaign team has raised objections to an advertisement from the Defense Ministry that highlights the achievements of rival presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto during his tenure as defense minister.
"This ad seems to have come from the presidential candidate and his team, but they used the Defense Ministry's budget," said Iwan Tarigan, spokesperson for the AMIN national team, as quoted by Antara.
The full-page ad appeared in Kompas daily on Monday, a day after the third electoral debate.
Iwan said that using ministerial funds for campaigning violated Article 282 of the General Elections Law, which stipulates that state officials, structural officials and functional officials in the civil service, as well as village heads, are prohibited from making decisions or engaging activities that benefit or harm any particular electoral candidate during campaign period.
The AMIN national team urged the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) to enforce the campaign rules and address the alleged violation.
"We ask Bawaslu to take a firm stance and punish the presidential and vice presidential candidates who, while still holding public office, misused their authority for their campaign," said Iwan.
Meanwhile, Kompas executives claimed the ad was unrelated to Prabowo’s presidential candidacy, saying that its content had come from the ministry, bbc.com reported.
