Indonesia Decides

Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan has announced that he will hold his final campaign rally at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Feb. 10.

He said the JIS was chosen because it had a capacity of 82,000, which would accommodate his supporters. He admitted to having an emotional connection with the JIS, as it was built when he served as the Jakarta governor.

"This is a work of the nation, the JIS is a symbol of the sweat of Indonesian people built without any foreign labor. They were all Indonesian natives, [who] went to Indonesian educational institutions, and could produce world-class buildings," Anies said in a written release on Friday, as quoted by kompas.com.

Anies also highlighted the relevance of concluding his campaign trail at the JIS due to its environmental and social aspects. He said the JIS was a platinum-level building with environmental standards and friendly to people with disabilities.

Separately, Anies-Muhaimin (AMIN) national campaign team co-captain Muhammad Syaugi Alaydrus confirmed that they would hold a massive final rally at the JIS.

"According to the rules, it has been agreed by the General Elections Commission [KPU] that the grand campaign will start from Sunday. The zones have also been determined so we’ll follow the rules," Syaugi said, as quoted by kompas.com.

The AMIN pair will hold grand meetings in various parts of Indonesia with its supporting parties, including the NasDem Party, the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Ummah Party.
