The KPU is preparing several measures at the Constitutional Court to anticipate the possibility of disputes regarding the general election results.
The General Elections Commission (KPU) has prepared a team to anticipate the possibility of an election result dispute (PHPU) at the Constitutional Court.
"The team consists of a group of internal KPU staff from the central level to the regency and city levesl,” KPU legal division coordinator Mochamad Afifuddin said on Wednesday, as quoted by kompas.com news portal
“There is also an external team that consists of lawyers."
The KPU has also developed an internal standard operating procedure for managing PHPU cases at the Constitutional Court by through a case exposure for the application submitted by a plaintiff.
The period for filing an application to the Constitutional Court for presidential and legislative elections is no later than three days after the KPU’s announcement of the vote tally.
Mochammad added that the KPU had also identified and inventoried legal problems at the polling stations, as well as at the regency, city and provincial levels.
The Constitutional Court held a rehearsal on how to handle PHPU cases on Wednesday, which was attended by all employees of the 2024 PHPU task force.
