President Jokowi has appointed his former adjutant, Mohamad Tonny Harjono, as the next Air Force chief of staff.
resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has appointed Air Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono as the new Air Force chief of staff, succeeding Air Chief Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo who is set to retire on April 9.
A graduate of the Air Force Academy class of 1993, Tonny previous posting was as commander of the Second Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan II), headquartered in Kutai Kertanegara regency, East Kalimantan.
The transition was formalized by Presidential Decree No. 20/TNI/2024, signed on March 25.
Jokowi's special staff coordinator Ari Dwipayana announced that the inauguration was scheduled to take place shortly.
"The presidential decree will come into effect upon inauguration, which will be held soon," Ari said on Tuesday, as reported by cnbcindonesia.com.
In response to his appointment, Tonny claimed to only be aware of his candidacy for the post along with other three-star officers within the Air Force.
"I am still a candidate. We’re still waiting for the presidential decree," he said on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
