The house will be built on a 1.2-hectare plot in Blulukan village, Colomadu; a location personally chosen by Jokowi.
On Thursday, workers swarmed the site designated for Jokowi’s future home, installing zinc fences around the grounds, as reported by Antara.
The land for Jokowi’s home is located on Jl. Adi Sucipto, one of the major roads leading to Surakarta, Central Java, between two restaurants. It is 10 minutes away by car from Surakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMS) and 15 minutes from Adi Soemarmo Airport in the city.
Officials from the State Secretariat had informed local authorities regarding the construction, said Blulukan village head Slamet Wiyono. He added that they also filed a request with the Karanganyar Public Works and Housing Agency to cut down some trees around the site to allow access for trucks and other heavy equipment.
“Some electrical and telephone poles will also be relocated by PLN and Telkom,” Slamet said on Thursday, as quoted by kompas.com, referring to the state electricity and telecommunication firms, respectively.
