C

ommunications and Information Minister Budi Arie Setiadi came out in defense of the family of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo by denying rumors and scandals surrounding his sons.

Jokowi’s eldest son and vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka first recently entered the spotlight on social media for allegedly being the owner of “Fufufafa”, an account on Indonesian online forum Kaskus.

The account posted several times on the forum, including after the 2019 presidential election when it slandered Prabowo Subianto, who eventually became Gibran’s running mate in the February presidential election. In 2019, Prabowo ran for president against Gibran’s father, which resulted in Jokowi’s reelection.

The account also made homophobic comments about Prabowo’s only son Ragowo “Didit” Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo and salacious comments about female celebrities.

Another post from Fufufafa contained a racist remark toward Novela Nawipa, a cadre of Prabowo’s Gerindra Party from Papua.

Netizens had been speculating that Gibran was behind Fufufafa because posts similar to those made on the forum also appeared on the vice president-elect’s other social media accounts.
