One of PTDI's newest aircraft is undergoing development into an amphibious version, with the plane maker aiming for certification by 2026.
tate-owned aircraft maker PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is developing an amphibious version of its N219 Nurtanio multipurpose aircraft, targeting certification by the end of 2026.
PTDI president director Gita Amperiawan said the company was making progress in developing the new version to meet the requirements for amphibious aircraft.
"The current development does not yet have a float installed under [the fuselage], but the performance of the N219 plane meets the basic requirements for amphibious aircraft," Gita said on Friday.
Meanwhile, PTDI production director Batara Silaban said adjustments being made to the N219 so it could float on water currently reached 30 percent.
The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is funding the amphibious N219 development project with a budget of at least Rp 300 billion (US$19.85 million).
