The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) under the chairmanship of Anindya Bakrie has announced its roster of deputy chairs, which include Raffi Ahmad and Prabowo Subianto's brother Hashim Djojohadikusumo.
faction within the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) appointed actor and businessman Raffi Ahmad as its deputy chair for tourism and creative economy amid an internal rift around the chamber’s leadership.
Raffi shared his gratitude for his appointment and conveyed his aim to improve collaboration between entrepreneurs and the incoming government under president-elect Prabowo Subianto to bolster the country’s economic growth.
“Thank you to Kadin chairman Anindya Bakrie who has trusted us [for these roles],” he said on Monday, referring to the chairman appointed in a disputed extraordinary national congress in September, as quoted by Antara.
Raffi’s appointment was announced in an event on Monday in Jakarta to unveil the new roster of Kadin’s leadership. In addition to the celebrity, other businessmen were also appointed to other deputy posts under the chairmanship of Anindya Bakrie, including Prabowo’s brother Hashim Djojohadikusumo, who heads Kadin’s advisory board.
Bobby Gafur Umar, who was appointed on Monday Kadin’s deputy head coordinator of investment, downstream and environment division, said Raffi was good for the position because of his wide network.
“His influence can allow us to invite young entrepreneurs or those from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to share ideas on what we can explore to improve the tourism and creative industry sectors,” Bobby said on Tuesday, as quoted by Kompas.
The announcement came amid a leadership dispute involving Anindya, whose chairmanship appointment in September ousted Arsjad Rasjid, who was elected chair with a five-year mandate in 2021.
