Prabowo is to be escorted to the State Palace by droves of supporters, while his predecessor, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will be sent off to Halim Perdanakusuma airport where he will fly to Surakarta, Central Java to retire.
ens of thousands of supporters of president-elect Prabowo Subianto are planning to parade him across town after he is inaugurated as the nation’s eighth leader this weekend, a member of a supporter group has confirmed.
The Gerindra Party chairman is to be escorted from the Senayan Legislative Compound, where lawmakers are set to officiate him, all the way to his new office at the State Palace in Central Jakarta, according to Immanuel Ebenezer, head of the Prabowo Mania volunteer network.
Prabowo, who won the presidential election in February by a landslide, will be inaugurated on Oct. 20.
Supporters also plan to send off President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at Halim Perdanakusuma airport, Immanuel said, where he is expected to fly out to his Central Java hometown of Surakarta for retirement.
“On Oct. 20, we, the volunteers of Jokowi, the volunteers of Prabowo, will first host a parade to send Pak Prabowo into the Palace,” he said on Wednesday, as quoted by Kompas.id.
“Secondly, we will escort Pak Jokowi to Halim to return to Solo [Surakarta]. Upon arrival, he will also be welcomed by his supporters there.”

Immanuel, who was among those summoned by Prabowo to his residence on Jl. Kertanegara on Tuesday, said tens of thousands of volunteers from across the country will take part in the festivities at their own expense.
However, details of the preparations remained sparse, particularly in regard to where the participants will converge on the streets.
“The scenario for the parade is still being discussed at this very moment. Hopefully by [Friday] we’ll have a final rundown,” Immanuel said.
According to General Elections Commission Regulation (PKPU) No. 3/2022 and the timetable for the 2024 general elections, Prabowo is to be inaugurated as president this Sunday at 10 a.m.
He is to be officiated alongside vice president-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Jokowi’s eldest son.
