orth Maluku Police investigators have questioned 24 witnesses in the investigation into the speedboat fire that killed North Maluku gubernatorial candidate Benny Laos and others on Oct. 12.

The provincial police spokesman Sr. Comr. Bambang Suharyono said on Sunday that investigators had also secured the speedboat wreckage for examination at the National Police Forensic Laboratory Center to further develop the investigation.

The boat explosion and subsequent fire occurred at around 2:05 p.m. Eastern Indonesia Time on Oct. 12 at Bobong Port in Taliabu Island regency, North Maluku, leading to the deaths of six people, including Benny.
