T

he Jakarta Post won two prizes for feature articles at the Asian Media Awards, organized by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) on Wednesday night in Singapore.

The Post’s “Decarbonizing Indonesia: Silent, invisible danger on Cirebon coast” clinched gold in the “best in feature articles” category. The interactive longform article reports how coal-fired power plants have caused insidious problems for people in Indonesia.

Another longform story by the Post team, “Legacy, landscapes and lives: The tales of Nusantara”, meanwhile, came out the winner for feature articles in the small and medium media category. The article captures the development of Indonesia’s future capital Nusantara, East Kalimantan.

Indian daily newspaper The Hindu, meanwhile, won silver for feature articles.

This year’s Asian Media Awards saw 251 entries from 42 media organizations across 13 countries and its award ceremony was held in conjunction with the Asian Media Leaders Summit.
