uthorities arrested four suspects allegedly involved in a shooting at the KM 45 rest area on the Tangerang-Merak toll road that killed a car rental owner.
The Tangerang Police confirmed on Saturday that their investigators had arrested four suspects, two of which were placed in custody on Friday. Two suspects were civilians, while the other two were military personnel. The police did not disclose more details on their identities.
“We are coordinating with the Military Police in the investigation,” Tangerang Police spokesperson Insp. Purbawa said on Saturday, as quoted by Antara.
Tangerang Police chief Sr. Comr. Baktiar Joko Mujiono said that his office would disclose more details about the case and the suspects during a press briefing on Monday, as reported by kompas.com.
Two suspects arrested on Friday were identified as IM, who acted as a fence, and Ajat who rented the car from Ilyas Abdurrahman, the owner of Makmur Jaya car rental. The police said that Ajat was promised to be paid for Rp 5 million (US$308) for his part in the crime.
Investigators believe that another suspect, who allegedly shot Ilyas to death, had bought the stolen rental car for Rp 40 million.
Ajat was arrested at his relative’s house in Picung district, Pandeglang regency, as reported by kompas.id.
