P

resident Prabowo Subianto has announced that his administration will soon disburse the holiday allowance (THR) for state employees ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday this month despite the ongoing efforts to enforce sweeping austerity measures to fund his costly initiatives.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday, the President said that he had signed Government Regulation (PP) No. 11/2025 on the disbursement of the THR along with an annual bonus called the 13th salary, set to be paid next week and in June, respectively.

The total number of recipients amounts to 9.4 million state employees, including civil servants, government contract employees, as well as the Indonesian Military and National Police personnel.

“Hopefully, this policy can help their finances during the Idul Fitri holidays,” Prabowo said. Half of the country’s 280 million population are expected to make mudik (exodus) trips to their hometowns this year, according to the Transportation Ministry.

Prabowo further explained that the holiday allowance added to the long list of policies he has introduced during the holy month of Ramadan, including a 13 to 14 percent reduction in domestic airfares and discounts on toll road fees during the mudik period.

The President also called on Monday for the private sector, along with state- and regional-owned enterprises to channel the THR for their employees no later than seven days before the Idul Fitri festivities, which are expected to fall on March 31 and April 1.
