he Trade and Tourism ministries have summoned concert promoter Mecima Pro following the chaotic concert of popular South Korean pop-rock band Day6 last week, which sparked widespread protests from frustrated concertgoers.
The Tourism Ministry’s deputy for event organizers, Vinsensius Jemadu, said the ministry summoned Mecima Pro to gather accurate details about the disorganized concert in order to develop policies to address the issue
"This oversight is crucial for improving the quality of concert organization in the country and enhancing Indonesia's reputation as a venue for international events," he said on Thursday, as reported by Kompas.
"The Ministry is committed to monitoring and guiding event organizers to support the growth of Indonesia's music concert industry," Vinsensius added.
In response to the controversy surrounding the Day6 concert, Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana reiterated the government’s commitment to developing a strong ecosystem for event organizing in the country.
"Events play a key role in driving the national economy by attracting tourists, creating jobs and generating economic multipliers for the public," she said.
In December of last year, Mecima Pro announced that Day6 would hold a concert at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in North Jakarta on May 3, as part of their Forever Young world tour.
