Authorities in Blora regency, Central Java, had yet to extinguish on Monday a fire that broke out at an oil well on Sunday.
“There were three fatalities,” Blora Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) official Agung Triyono said in a written statement on Monday, as quoted by Kompas.com.
The fire also forced families to evacuate from their homes in Gandu village, Bogorejo district in Blora regency, as well as injuring several villagers.
“Some 50 families have been evacuated to their relatives’ homes, along with six cattle and three goats,” Agung said.
“One house is badly damaged while five other houses are less seriously damaged.”
Several villagers opted to evacuate to their farms and gardens and planned to erect evacuation tents, Agung added.
Meanwhile, Blora BPBD executive director Mulyowati said the victims were identified as Tanek who died at the scene.
