Search and rescue efforts to find all victims in last week's Bali floods ended despite four victims are still missing.
Head of the Denpasar office of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), I Nyoman Sidakarya, who coordinated the search and rescue (SAR) operation, said the decision was in line with Law No. 29/2014 on SAR.
“Until today [Sept. 18], the number of deaths caused by flooding on Bali Island is 18 people. Meanwhile, four people are still unaccounted for,” Sidarkarya said, as quoted by Kompas.com.
The joint SAR team had exerted all efforts during the seven-day operation in Badung regency to find victims by combing riverbanks and using rubber boats, he added.
“After we evaluated for several days and there were no signs of more victims to be found, today we declare that the joint SAR team and the deployment of equipment is ended,” he said.
