View all search resultsThe four policemen wrongfully detained North Sumatra NasDem Party chairman Iskandar at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang regency, during an investigation into online scams and gambling.
he North Sumatra Police have arrested four detectives from Medan City Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim), who previously detained the chairman of the North Sumatra NasDem Party, Iskandar, who has the same name with an online gambling suspect, in a case of mistaken identity.
The four policemen, only identified as Second Insp. J, First Adj. Insp. JP, First Adj. Insp. AS and First Brig. ES, were detained by North Sumatra Police Internal Affairs (Propam) Department on Saturday.
North Sumatra chief spokesman Sr. Comr. Ferry Walintukan said the four policemen were arrested after questioning by Propam officers since Thursday. They are suspected of making errors in the detention process of the suspect.
“They have already been detained in a special location,” Ferry told reporters on Saturday.
The four policemen wrongfully detained Iskandar at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang regency, during an investigation into online scams and gambling.
The detectives received a tip off that the suspect, identified as Iskandar, was in the airport. The policemen thereafter rushed to the airport to arrest the suspect.
