entral Java Police have detained one of their officers for questioning following the suspicious death of Dwinanda Linchia Levi, a 35-year-old female lecturer from 17 August 1945 University (Untag) in Semarang.
According to the Central Java Police’s Internal Affairs Division (Propam), the officer, identified only as Sr. Adj. Comr. B, will be detained for 20 days until Dec. 8.
"The detention is necessary to ensure that the investigation is conducted professionally, transparently, and in accordance with regulations," Propam head Sr. Comr. Saiful Anwar said on Thursday, as reported by Tribunnews.com.
Anwar added that B has been questioned by Propam investigators since Wednesday. Initial investigations suggest that the officer may have violated the police code of ethics by cohabiting with Dwinanda.
Authorities are also investigating the nature of B’s relationship with Dwinanda and whether any criminal activity was involved in her death.
Anwar stated that the police are committed to taking firm action against any personnel who violate regulations.
"Anyone found guilty will be processed according to the law, regardless of rank or position," he added.
