In Riau, officers from the Bengkalis Police Narcotics Crimes Investigation (Resnarkoba) unit foiled the shipment of sabu (methamphetamine) and hundreds of etomidate cartridges at the Air Putih ferry port in Air Putih village, Bengkalis regency, on Saturday at 9:43 a.m.
Detectives arrested two “mules”, identified only as HS from Mandau district and DS from Pekanbaru, as they waited to board a vessel in the inter-island ferry port.
“The arrests were led directly by Bengkalis Police Resnarkoba unit chief Adj. Comr. Kris Tofel after monitoring the suspects’ vehicle,” Bengkalis Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Fahrian Saleh Siregar said on Monday.
“Both suspects were arrested while still inside the vehicle without any resistance.”
After searching the vehicle, detectives found 13 packs of sabu weighing 13 kg. Officers also found 373 e-cigarette cartridges, which are suspected to contain class II drug etomidate.
Etomidate is a short-acting intravenous anesthetic agent used for the induction of general anesthesia and sedation for short procedures. Etomidate has the same effect as ketamine, another type of anesthetic, hence the name k-pod.
