View all search resultsThe director of Gumpalannews.com is facing a trial over alleged graft in a 2022 Simeulue regency publication project that caused losses Rp 697.5 million (US$40,428), though a local media union leader has suggested ulterior motives behind the charges.
he family of a media executive is demanding justice over his detention by the Simeulue Prosecutor’s Office in Aceh, which declared Kadri Amin a corruption suspect on Feb. 9 in relation to a publication project for the Simeulue Communication and Informatics Agency.
His wife Nurti Sariani described the corruption allegations against Kadri, the head of South Jakarta-based Gumpalannews.com, as strange, because the project had been completed.
The agreed work was not fictitious, did not involve any markups or bribery and the final outcome had far surpassed what was offered, Nurti said.
However, the Simeulue prosecutor had brought corruption charges against her husband because the project did not involve an open bidding process while the project agreement used a retroactive contract.
“The media publication [project] carried out by my husband did not go through an open bidding because the value was under Rp 200 million [US$11,592],” Nurti said on Thursday.
“There was no bidding because it was a direct appointment, in accordance with Government Procurement Agency (LKPP) Regulation No. 5/2021. So where is the problem?”
Nurti added that all payments related to the publication project was in line with the Simeulue regent’s decree on the General Cost Standard (SBU)
