T

he Semarang Corruption Court in Central Java started the trial on Monday of former Pati regent Sudewo on extortion and corruption charges, with the reading of charges by a prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Sudewo is charged with extorting officials appointed to fill various positions in 401 village administrations in 21 districts across Pati and taking bribes for railway track projects at the Transportation Ministry’s Railway Directorate General in 2022.

Also charged were Karangrowo village head Abdul Suyono, Arumanis village head Sumarjiono and Sukorukun village head Karjan.
