The annual Maybank Bali Marathon, to be held on August 27, will have a different route this year.
The competition has been held in Gianyar regency since 2012. This year, Maybank Indonesia is reportedly in the process of developing a new route, which is planned to include other regencies such as Klungkung and Bangli.
This year the race organizers expect 8,000 to 9,000 runners to take part, compared with 7,500 last year.
“We’ve increased the number of competitors to accommodate the popular enthusiasm,” said Maybank Indonesia’s president director Taswin Zakaria in a press release. “We’ve also improved our infrastructure.”

There will be four categories in the competition, namely the full-marathon, half-marathon, 10K and children’s sprint.
Those who want to take part in the race can visit balimarathon.com. Registration is open until July 23, or until the slots are filled. A special registration fee for the early bird period, which runs from April 16 to 30, is also available.
Maybank Bali Marathon is an international race with various prizes, and has been dubbed as one of the "remarkable races in the world that one must participate in before you die" by The Active Times. The race has also made it to the list of the "Best 52 Races on Earth 2016" by Runnersworld. (asw)
