edia company the Femina Group introduced the Jakarta Eat Festival (JEF) on Thursday, with the theme “Raising Food Issues -- The Pop Culture Way”. The event is slated to run until Sunday at Gandaria City Mall.

The festival is dedicated to food lovers who celebrate Jakarta as a food hub.

It is serving up gourmet products by tenants such as Anomali Coffee, Zen fine porcelain tableware, Korte Chocolate Craft, Kandura (ceramic tableware) studio, and many others.

The festival also includes the Dapur Uji Cooking Theater, which features four talk shows and baking demos.

Dapur Uji, which means test kitchen, is a popular division of the Femina Group, where all the recipes are tested before being published.

Each show is able to accommodate up to 50 audience members.

Highlights of the theater include a Gravity Defying Cake baking demo by Indonesian cake artist Handi Mulyana who is based in Sydney, Australia. It is set to take place on Saturday.

The hit makers behind popular coffee shops Ombe Kofie in Pluit on Jl. Cikajang and Roti Nogat in Pasar Modern BSD will also share their secrets on Sunday, alongside donut sensation Dough Darlings.

Coffee lovers are also in for a treat and new insights at the Coffee Megatrend talk show on Sunday, featuring Ve Handojo of the ABCD School of Coffee and Aston Utan and Mikail Jasin of ST. Ali Jakarta, Common Grounds Coffee Roaster and Sensory Lab. (mut)
